Skull and Bones gets release date and gameplay trailer

Ubisoft has finally revealed the gameplay and official release date for Skull and Bones, after five years of development and many delays. During the live stream of Ubisoft Forward this Thursday (7), the developer also presented an overview of the story in a new cinematic trailer, as well as the main mechanics of the pirate game. The title will be available for PlayStation 5 ( PS5 ), Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, Google Stadia, and PC starting November 8, 2022. Also, more information is expected to be revealed in September, when the company holds the next event focused on launches.

Announced in 2017, Skull and Bones is an open-world multiplayer game inspired by the Golden Age of Piracy in the vast area of the Indian Ocean. The story takes place in the late 17th century, putting the player in the shoes of a castaway in a dark and visceral world, full of threats. Thus, the only alternative to survive is to overcome the dangers of the seas, such as storms, tidal waves, and bloodthirsty enemies, to become an infamous pirate.

Despite remembering Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag at first glance, Skull and Bones innovates and improve the navigation and combat mechanics seen in the 2013 game. It will be possible not only to form fleets with other players but also to face them in brutal PvP confrontations. Other than that, you'll be able to search for treasure, face riots, and even invade enemy strongholds to loot them. See below for more gameplay details.

According to the video, the game will offer several customization options and improvements, which will be extremely necessary to adapt your ships to your purposes. You will be able to buy or build weapons, tools, and armor that will improve resistance, speed, and attack power, in addition to various other attributes. There will also be aesthetic customization options for your character, other crew, and vessels, such as outfits, sails, emblems, etc.

Skull and Bones are coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/ S, Google Stadia, and PC users, who can pre-order via the Ubisoft Store, Epic Games Store, or each platform's digital stores. Members of the Ubisoft+ subscription service will have access to the Premium Edition, which includes two extra missions, an artbook with details on creating the game, and more benefits.

Finally, it is worth noting that the next Ubisoft Forward will take place on September 10, 2022, broadcast on YouTube, Twitch, and the French producer's official website. On her official blog, she promises to reveal “updates and news about various titles and projects from Ubisoft teams around the world”. This indicates that more news about Skull and Bones, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Beyond Good and Evil 2, the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and other games could be coming.
